Prospective Student Information

Theory of Relativity

**All students must apply and be accepted to Drake University before admission will be considered into any of the BFA programs. Submit your application at drake.edu/apply.

BFA Audition & Portfolio Review Options:

On-campus (Please pre-register by the Monday prior to your preferred audition event)

November 22, 2024 - REGISTER

February 7, 2025 - REGISTER

Auditions will take place in the Harmon Fine Arts Center. An accompanist will be provided.

A typical schedule is below:

  • 7:15-8:00 AM - Check-in / Greetings
  • 8:00-11:00 AM - Auditions / Portfolio Reviews / Dance Call
  • 11:00-11:45 AM - Q&A w/ Theatre Faculty and Students
  • 12:00-12:30 PM - Lunch at The Hubb w/ Theatre Students
  • 1:00-1:15 PM - Admissions Overview Q&A
  • 1:15-2:00 PM - Campus Tour

Off-campus - Chicago Unifieds - Feb. 3-6, 2025

  • Sign up for an audition time here.
  • A piano accompanist will not be provided. Please bring your accompaniment track(s) on your phone or other playback device. 
  • The deadline to pre-register will be 72 hours before your desired date. After this point, you must register at the event.

Note: Some Musical Theatre students may be invited for a group dance call-back later in the day.

Online Submissions

  • Audition videos and/or portfolio materials must be submitted to the audition portal by Feb. 7, 2025.
  • We also take virtual submissions through GetAccepted.
    • Note: There is a fee for their service.

Scholarship Information:

When students audition/interview for acceptance into one of the B.F.A. degree programs, they are ALSO auditioning for possible Fine Arts Scholarship awards. Theatre minors and B.A. majors are not eligible for Fine Arts scholarships.

Audition/Portfolio Requirements:

The department also offers a B.A. Degree in Theatre for those students who want to pursue a second major in a different subject area. B.A. degree seeking students are NOT required to audition for the program.
